Venyu, a PHNS subsidiary, also brings expansion opportunity to the partnership through geographically-diverse, SAS70 qualified, datacenters. In the last five years, the amount of picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) imaging and traditional electronic data generated in the healthcare industry has grown exponentially. In addition, HIPPA regulations have ushered in new regulations governing how data must be protected and accessed in the event of a human or natural disaster.

“Advances in medical imaging technology, electronic medical records (EMR) and online medical collaboration between doctors, departments and specialists have created unique challenges for healthcare IT departments struggling to protect ever-growing amounts of electronic data,” said Venyu CEO Scott Thompson. “The Venyu and InSite One partnership will give hospitals and healthcare providers a powerful solution to tackle current and future data protection challenges with minimal disruption to existing environments.”  Venyu’s data protection and recovery solution is fully automated and maintains the highest industry standards for security, regulatory compliance, and recoverability. Venyu Remote Online Backup and Virtualized Disaster Recovery Solution Receives High Marks in Independent ESG Lab Review

Tuesday, February 02, 2010

Venyu combines its AmeriVault® backup service with standby virtual servers, reducing the time, complexity and risk associated with protecting and recovering rapidly growing volumes of data

Baton Rouge, LA – February 1, 2010 – Venyu, a leader in commercial-grade, customizable solutions for data protection, availability and recovery, today announced that its AmeriVault® remote online backup and virtualized disaster recovery (VDR) solution received high marks in an independent lab review from IT analyst and business strategy firm Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). The scope of the review included operation of Venyu’s remote backup service running on ESG’s own production servers and the recovery of over half a Terabyte of data to virtual servers at a Venyu datacenter located 1,500 miles away. Five servers, including Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint and SQLServer were evaluated for backup efficiency and recovery times.

According to ESG’s latest research, 30 percent of midmarket organizations identified improving backup and recovery as a top IT priority over the next 12-18 months. As storage capacity grows at a rate of more than 20 percent annually and the business impact of downtime intensifies, IT managers are looking for ways to reduce the risk and cost associated with protecting vital company information while also minimizing the amount of time needed to maintain backup solutions.

While using a top-rated on-premises solution, ESG was also seeking to improve backup efficiency and maintain a remote offsite copy that they could quickly recover from in the event of an outage or disaster. ESG’s Director of IT, Jeffrey D’Entremont, often had to set aside strategic projects due to the hassle associated with traditional backup methods.  Upon experiencing the Venyu backup, technical support, and remote recovery service, he summarized the test by saying, “I sleep better at night knowing that in the event of a disaster, Venyu’s got my back-up.  It was very easy to test our DR plan by virtually recovering our infrastructure at Venyu.  I’m confident that the experts at Venyu can get us back in business after a disaster.”

Venyu’s AmeriVault backup service gives mid-size companies an easy way to configure remote backups that run automatically using a WAN efficient, secure, and tape-free procedure. In the event of an outage or disaster, Venyu’s VDR service can manage the entire data recovery process using an out of region datacenter that leverages virtual server technology.

“Venyu made it easy to get started with remote backup and recovery services. The AmeriVault VDR service got us up and running in a virtual environment within hours of a simulated disaster and our IT Director expressed his total confidence in our ability to recover from any loss, small or large,” said Brian Garrett, Vice President, ESG Lab. “Any medium-sized business worried about the complexity and risk associated with data backups should consider Venyu’s online backup and virtual recovery services.”

“Businesses today have a lot to consider when it comes to protecting and storing their data, but the bigger question is whether it will be available when they need it,” said Venyu CEO Scott Thompson. “The issue of availability is critical when you consider the revenue, productivity and brand reputation lost for every minute of downtime. The AmeriVault remote online backup and VDR solution gives companies daily, hassle-free offsite storage and the confidence that their data is available when they need it.”

Green Bay Packers Strengthen Defense with Venyu’s AmeriVault Backup

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Baton Rouge, LA – October 13, 2009 – Venyu, a leader in commercial-grade, customizable solutions for data protection, availability and recovery, today announced a new partnership with the Green Bay Packers to deliver its cost-effective and reliable AmeriVault online data backup and recovery solution. The Packers join a long line of professional sports teams partnering with Venyu to outsource and streamline their offsite data backup and recovery strategies.

The storied NFL franchise relies on Venyu to provide remote backup for their production servers including SharePoint and SQL. The team – which was recently named the number one sports brand by the Turnkey Sports Brand Index – chose to modernize their data backup and recovery routines following encouragement by the NFL to consider repercussions of natural disasters and the years of success other franchises have had leveraging the internet for these services.

“We needed a provider that could backup selected data and store it remotely, while also allowing us immediate access to our files in the event of an emergency,” said Wayne Wichlacz, Director of Information Technology for the Green Bay Packers. “Venyu’s services run as an extension of our IT department, allowing us to focus on our core operations with the confidence that our data is safe.”

Until recently, small to medium enterprises like the Green Bay Packers franchise, were underserved with viable solutions to automate offsite storage to multiple geographies while providing fast recovery. The advent of affordable storage, fast internet speeds, and server virtualization gives organizations new ways to ensure recovery in the event of an outage or disaster.

“Just as SMEs can affordably and easily remotely access their corporate networks via the internet, these same advances have found their way into backup and disaster recovery technologies,” said Jerome Wendt, President of analyst firm DCIG, Inc. “These online advances coupled with new server and storage virtualization technologies alter what SMEs can expect to accomplish, and how quickly they can expect to deliver backup and DR for their applications.”
