Venyu announced today that Habitat for Humanity of Riverside, Calif., has improved its data backup solution by choosing RestartIT to better secure two decades of loan, mortgage and deed information kept on behalf of its clients. The non-profit organization moved from an on-site data protection and recovery strategy to an enhanced, cloud-based solution to strengthen the protection of its vital database of fundraising contacts, along with the decades of sensitive financial and real estate documents.
“Because Riverside is geographically located near a major fault line, it was important for our organization to add an off-site data backup solution to our existing strategy that would keep our files safe, even if a natural disaster occurs on the premises,” said Cheryl Cramer, IT Manager, Habitat for Humanity Riverside. “Venyu offered a cost-effective, cloud-based solution to store our important data in another geographic region, eliminating our worries of data loss.”
Habitat Riverside explored a variety of options and ultimately selected Venyu’s RestartIT offering as its remote backup and disaster recovery solution. Cramer noted that Venyu’s service offering and support team went “above and beyond” the other vendors she scrutinized.
“Venyu’s technical support team was the only one out of the vendors we evaluated who took the time to explain everything to us,” Cramer noted. Today, all of Habitat for Humanity Riverside’s data backup functions are done automatically over the Internet to a secure cloud environment, using data deduplication that monitors each file, recognizes when it is changed and only transmits those portions of the file that have been altered.
After the data backup process was completed, Habitat for Humanity realized instant dividends. Cramer explains: “We really knew we had chosen the right company to work with when we experienced a data loss on our local server. This was an important document that would have been difficult to recreate. Thanks to RestartIT, we were able to locate our backup copy within minutes. It was like the loss never happened, and we were able to continue our work.
